It hit me

This past week my grandmother (Granny) came to grips with the fact that she should clean out Granddad's closet, having passed away 7 months ago. My mother decided to take most of the clothes to our house to see if I could fit into any of them. To my surprise I am the exact same shirt and waist size as Granddad was. His legs were a little longer, but that's nothing a little hem-job couldn't take care of. In his everyday clothes he didn't look like it, but my Granddad was a pretty snazzy dresser. He had some sweet plaid pants and a pretty pimp-sweet houndstooth suit. I wore the latter to an "office dance party" over the weekend and I got a million compliments as well as on my grandfather's taste in fashion. This really made me feel special, knowing that I could literally fill his shoes.

However, amidst all these awesome things that I remember of my grandfather, this morning I lost it. While I was getting ready this morning for school, for some strange reason I tried on his plaid pants. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. I thought about how happy he'd be knowing that I could put his clothes to good use. After I took them off and put on my school clothes, the waterworks broke loose. I wasn't expecting it at all, but out of nowhere I realized again how much I really do miss him. I texted my sister on my way to school and told her about it. She said the same thing happens to her sometimes, too. And she reminded me that it could be that yesterday was Grandparents Day, which I completely forgot about. What a coincidence! Typing all this out really helps me cope. I love you, Ol' Buddy!

Blogging TWICE in ONE week!  I'm out of control, I know!  Someone stop me!

Well, I made $25 dollars last night.  Samantha invited me to the Wilson & Associates office Christmas party at Next Level Events downtown in the old train station.  Apparently this thing is a big deal, because she had to inform weeks in advance that she was attending and the name of her guest (me).  Upon entering this place they immediately made us put on our nametags.  I felt like a Jew in a concentration camp.  We eventually met up with some people Samantha knew and chit-chatted while we ate our fajita meet.  I assume there were supposed to be tortillas as well.  We used our free drink tickets, and I discovered that my brother's roommate is the bartender, so we were in good long after our tickets were redeemed.  I also discovered that my brother's other friend was running the karaoke.  I found the form, I filled it out, and 10 minutes later I find myself on the performance floor behind a microphone.  The $25 dollars the people at Samantha's table put down for me to sing "I Touch Myself" was a bit of a motivator, too.  It was a night to remember.  Now I can pay my child support.  Oh, I want a Nintendo Wii if any of you have one.  That is all. --Jer

P.S. I think my one-act won the One-Act Festival... even though it isn't a contest.

This is me updating

I think I might start doing this thing again.  I actually kind of miss it when I have the time think about important things like xanga.   I know you all have been thirsty for more of my rockstar life happenings.
Here's an update from the Jeremy Chronicles.  Last night was my turn to tech the one-act play i'm directing this semester for my directing that.  For those of you who don't know what teching is, it means that we rehearse with the actors all of the sound cues and light cues.  In full-length shows it can take hours, depending on how complex the sound/light designs are.  Luckily these were not the case.  However, the eggnog "refreshments," provided by a gracious fellow director, helped take the edge off a bit.  Anyway, it went really well, and my actors did great.  There were some spots that I could tell they had a little bit of trouble, but they ad-libbed like professionals.  I'm proud of them.   Even though I don't want to become a REAL director, this class has made me appreciate directors more.  It is also very rewarding seeing something you've created from scratch come to life on stage.  "Enough sentimentality," you're probably thinking, but it's true.  It's been back-breaking work, but I'm grateful for this experience.

Come see my show!  "Bake Off" on Thursday December 7th at the UCA One-Act Festival.  Harsh language does happen, so don't bring your impressionable children, but you may bring flowers and money.  Or just a bouquet of money.  That's the best.  Peace out!  --Jer

Sleep, come to me!

Well, we finally opened last night.  It seemed like it would never happen.  So, hopefully now things won't be so exhausting/demanding/sleep-deprived/stressful/sweaty.  I'm so proud of our cast last night.  After we finished Act 1 I was beaming.  We were all standing in the green room, reflecting on our great performance of the first act, and in came our director with a big smile on her face.  So I started smiling even bigger, anticipating what she was going to say.  "Act 1... let's just make Act 2 bigger, okay?"  Sort of confused by her lack of compliment, I tried to fish a little.  "Act 1 was...?"  I was still smiling.  "You were all really playing a lot more with your characterization.  I like experimentation during performances."  And that was all she wrote.  She must've actually realized that we were disappointed in her, because I think Act 2 went just swimmingly, and she said it was "great."  No matter how any of the performances go, I don't have any doubts about my cast.  They've been my family for the last month and a half, and I know what they're capable of on-stage and off.  I love you guys!  Let's shine!
After the show, I felt like celebrating for a change, so I went to my friend Lily and Michelle's "Swanky Party: Part Deux."  I was swanked out in my ruffle-front tuxedo shirt and silver blazer.  Needless to say, I was pretty swanked, because I won the title of "Duke of the Party."  Pictures will soon follow.  Peace out.  --J-nickel

Updatus minimalis

Sorry it's taken me so long to do some updating, but i've discovered myspace, so it may be the end of Xanga for a while.  I suppose I'll still keep it for the purpose of staying in contact w/ some of you, though.
In other news, being a rockstar has kept me pretty busy.  By "being a rockstar," I mean rehearsing for ungodly hours, building our own set, making my own props, and purchasing/altering my own costume.  Please come see my show, we've been working on it hard.  REAL hard.  Dates are as follows:  Sept. 1-2, 8-9, at the Old Gin in Conway.  Tickets are $30, which I agree is ludicrous, but it is worth it.  It is a dinner theatre, which is being catered by the Oak Street Bistro (one of Conway's higher end restaurants).  There is even a special menu for the kids, and an ice cream sundae bar at intermission.  If you would like to purchase tickets, let me know, and I will tell you the best nights to come.  Peace out.
